HANDS-ON ACTIVITY – Origami Crane Folding – Sunday, November 9, 2025

DATE:  November 8th and 9th, 2025

TIME:  ongoing from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

FREE – No registration required

Learn origami crane folding from our volunteer “experts”.  This activity is FREE … and everyone is welcomed to give it a try.  Stop by to learn more about the cultural significance of origami cranes and the history of this unique Japanese art form.  Join our effort to make 1000 cranes.

In cultures throughout the world, cranes symbolize honor, good fortune, loyalty and longevity.  The crane has also become a symbol of peace, hope, and healing during challenging times.  These characteristics have given the crane special meaning for many people and is associated with the Japanese belief that those with the patience and commitment to fold 1,000 origami cranes will be granted a wish.

    FREE WORKSHOP – Photographing Sandhill Cranes – November 9, 2025

    This introduction to photographing wild birds will focus on Sandhill Cranes.  Topics include basics of birding, ethical considerations, predicting bird behavior, and locations for observing and photographing.  Jennifer and Walt will cover basic cameras, lenses, and other accessories.  Basic camera settings, best times of day, dealing with wind and weather conditions will be discussed.  Photographing birds in flight and birds that are stationary, as well as photographing birds in your backyard.
