Meet the Sandhill Cranes: An Introduction to Lodi’s Seasonal Visitors
Each fall and winter, thousands of Sandhill Cranes migrate along the Pacific Flyway and make a seasonal stop in California’s Central Valley—especially around Lodi. These elegant birds are known for their distinctive calls, graceful courtship dances, and easily recognizable features.
In this engaging session, longtime Sandhill Crane Docent Jane H. Adams will share her decades of experience with these majestic birds. Jane has served over 20 years with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and volunteers annually at Rowe Sanctuary in Gibbon, Nebraska. This orientation offers a perfect opportunity to learn how to identify Sandhill Cranes and better understand their behaviors, migration patterns, and cultural importance.
