TOUR #4426 – Delta Birding Cruise #4

November 8
7:00 am - 9:00 am

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Start your day with a relaxing cruise through the waterways of the California Delta alongside a licensed local boat operator and a birder/naturalist. Morning is an excellent time to observe wildlife as birds leave their overnight roosts to feed and the Delta comes to life.

Watch for geese, ducks, and other waterfowl overhead while scanning the shoreline for the many birds and mammals that inhabit the Delta. Sandhill Cranes and Tundra Swans may also be seen, along with a variety of raptors, shorebirds, and songbirds. This tour offers a peaceful way to experience the Delta’s rich wildlife and scenic landscapes.

This tour begins on paved surfaces and includes travel to the boat boarding area, where some uneven ground may be encountered. Boarding and disembarking the boat requires stepping between the dock and the vessel. Walking distances are short, but participants should expect minor changes in surface conditions during the tour.

LANDS PASS

No Lands Pass is required for this tour.  Visit the Tour FAQ page for more information.

The tour is suitable for able-bodied adults and kids, but an adult must accompany their children. Boats have an open canopy; always be prepared for the elements. Toilet facilities are dockside only. We set sail from the dock at Tower Park Marina/Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Camp-Resort.

Event Location

Tower Park Marina – Loading Dock Next to the Marina Office
14900 W Hwy 12

Directions:

All Delta Birding Cruises begin and end at the Tower Park Marina, 14900 W. Highway 12. If you are driving west on Highway 12 from Interstate 5, after about 4.5 miles, look for a right turn before crossing the bridge, onto Glasscock Rd.  Look for the signs at Hwy 12 and Glasscock Rd. (Do not cross the bridge on Hwy 12 because it is a long way until you can make a U turn.) After making the right turn, make a left turn and circle under the Highway 12 bridge. Make a right onto Tower Park Way and drive into the marina.   Drive towards the back of the parking area and look for a large plastic statue of Yogi the Bear on your right, near the Marina Office. Meet your guide up on the dock by Yogi the Bear.
