TOUR #1024 – Eagles and Their Environment by Boat #1 – November 2, 2024

DESCRIPTION: This is the festival’s most popular tour. Enjoy your drive through the Sierra foothills to Pardee Reservoir, where you will board a boat with East Bay Municipal Utility District naturalists and biologists. They will take you around the reservoir (which is closed to the public this time of year) to see early arriving Golden and Bald Eagles, as well as other raptors, including Osprey, that frequent the area. This boat tour also offers uncommon bird species not seen on other tours, including loons, grebes, mergansers, and Bufflehead Ducks. In years past, bobcats, deer and other mammals have been spotted. Dress for the weather and bring your binoculars!

TIME: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Note: This is the actual tour time. Drive time is not included.

NOTE: Binoculars will be helpful. Bring snacks and water is desired. Dress in layers.

DIRECTIONS TO THE TOUR: Begin your tour at Hutchins Street Square (125 S. Hutchins Street, Lodi) at the bus on Oak Street. 

LANDS PASS:  No Lands Pass is required for this tour

LATE REGISTRATION: Customers who register online after October 26 must present a hard copy or phone display the email receipt to their tour guide at the time of the tour.

REGISTRATION AT THE FESTIVAL: Unsold tickets will be available during the festival and can be purchased on this website.

WHERE AND WHEN TO MEET YOUR GUIDE: Check-in at the bus on the North side of Hutchins Street Square on Oak Street by 7:45 a.m.

QUESTIONS REGARDING REGISTRATION: Contact the Registration Coordinator at tours@lodisandhillcrane.org or leave a message at (800) 581-6150. Notify the Registration Coordinator in advance if special accommodations are needed. Expect a response from the Coordinator within the week.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Full refunds (minus a 3% processing fee) are available prior to a tour upon the customer’s request at tours@lodisandhillcrane.org. A full refund is automatically issued for any events cancelled by the festival organizers.

It is best to dress in layers.  The foothills can be very cool in the morning and evening, but quite warm in the afternoon.

There is no food or water available on this tour, so participants are encouraged to bring a snack and a bottle of water if they like.

No, this tour does not require a Lands Pass.

Binoculars and a spotting scope may be brought on this tour if they can be held on your lap.  There may be limited space on the boat to set up a spotting scope. Check with your guide before boarding.

You should definitely bring your camera.

Yes there are restrooms or a port-a-potty available at the tour site.  There are no restrooms on the boat. Therefore, everyone should use the restroom before the tour begins.

This tour requires the ability to walk short distances on uneven terrain or dock. Participants must be able to step from the dock onto the boat.

Yes, there is handicap parking available at the tour site, but there is a bit of a walk to the boat.

In general, it is not acceptable to bring dogs to the festival or on tours because they may interfere with other participants or disturb wildlife. Service animals must be handled so as not to disturb other people or wildlife. On bus or boat tours, service animals must sit on their owner’s lap because of limited space.

There may be some biting insects in the area, but not too many.
