DESCRIPTION: Affectionately called the “Black Hole,” this refuge for waterfowl is unique in many ways. Trevor Carlson will meet you at the clubhouse for an introductory discussion before loading a small bus for a tour of the grounds. You will see areas of habitat restoration that have been specifically designed for Wood Ducks and Mallards. Originally designed as a hunting club, the family’s love of nature has made this an oasis for all kinds of wildlife and waterfowl. 

DIRECTIONS: From the North on Interstate 5, exit on Peltier Road and drive South on the frontage road two miles to Woodbridge Road. From the South on Interstate 5, exit on Turner Road and drive North on the frontage road one mile to Woodbridge Road.

This tour begins at the Black Hole, located  4 miles West of Interstate 5 on Woodbridge Road. Watch for the sign on your right. Drive down the gravel road to the end and veer to the left. Pass through the iron gate and drive to your right to the main building.

LANDS PASS: No Lands Pass is required for this tour.

TRANSPORTATION: You will drive your personal vehicle to the tour. During the tour, you will be transported in a 20-passenger bus.

CHECK-IN: Meet your guide at the Black Hole clubhouse at 9:30 a.m. You will have a short orientation prior to beginning the tour.

NOTE: A sack lunch and drinks will be provided, so plan to stay for a picnic after the tour.

It is a good idea to bring binoculars, but there is no room on the bus for a spotting scope.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: Choose an option and select the number of reservations you wish to purchase. No actual tickets will be issued. You will receive an email to confirm your reservation (Check your Spam Folder if you do not receive one) On the day of the tour your guide will have a list of participants and will check you in.

WAITING LIST PROCEDURES: If you try to register for a tour that is full, you may be given the option to get on a waiting list. The waiting list is limited to the first few customers who attempt to register. If space becomes available these customers will be notified by email that they have 48 hours to register for the tour. After 48 hours, the space(s) will be open for registration on a first come-first serve basis. This system is fully automated. Our volunteer staff will not be able to let you know if you are on the waiting list.

LATE REGISTRATION: If you register for a tour after the deadline, please bring a copy of your confirmation email to show your guide or show confirmation on your cell phone.
