TOUR #3723 – Raptors Round Up – November 5, 2023

Every year, Cosumnes River Preserve Naturalists do a survey of raptors found within CRP’s 50,000 diverse acres. The data collected by these volunteers help biologists from BLM, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Nature Conservancy and other agencies to monitor the health of these populations. The preserve is an excellent location for viewing raptors due to its wide variety of grasslands, marshes, rivers and sloughs, woodlands, and agricultural fields.

Don’t miss this opportunity to view the rich variety of raptors in this area. A volunteer naturalist will guide you to areas that are best for viewing. The species you might see include Swainson’s Hawks, Red Tailed Hawks, American Kestrels, Red-Shouldered Hawks, and many others. Be sure to bring your binoculars and scopes. Over 250 species of birds frequent the Cosumnes River Preserve during the year, so no mater what, you will have a day to remember.
