During the week of  September 18, 2023, small groups of Sandhill Cranes have begun to arrive at Staten Island and the Woodbridge Ecological Reserve. Over the next few weeks, up to 30,000 Lesser Sandhill Cranes and 10,000 Greater Sandhill Cranes will be gathering in the Delta.
This is harvest season, so birders are encouraged to use caution while driving in the area. Large equipment can pose a hazard, so please be careful and keep a watchful eye.
