In mid to late September, Sandhill Cranes will begin to arrive in the Lodi area. The Woodbridge Ecological Reserve https://wildlife.ca.gov/Lands/Places-to-Visit/Woodbridge-ER, Staten Island https://visitlodi.com/things-to-do/staten-island/, and The Cosumnes River Preserve http://m.gov/visit/cosumnes-river-preserve-visitor-center, are good locations for viewing the cranes.
The Sandhill Cranes will spend the winter, from September through February in the area.
September through November is harvest season, so birders are encouraged to use caution while driving in the area. Large equipment can pose a hazard, so please be careful and keep a watchful eye.
